howto use dcop to set current mixer

I'm running Fedora Core 5 with a KDE desktop. I recently added a USB soundcard (stereo-link 1200 USB DAC) but the old, on-board soundcard (Ensoniq Audio PCI) keeps coming up as the default "Current mixer" on KMix. I'm trying to find some way of making the stereo-link the default so I don't have to manually change this entry in KMix each time I logon.

Is there some way of doing this with a DCOP command; i.e. something under the "dcop kmix kmix-mainwindow#1" command?
