How to run multiple mail client instances on KDE desktop

Running Slackware 11 on a P4-2.4GHz machine. Running fine, but am unable to find and configure a mail client to run multiple instances simultaneously checking 6 different mail accounts. Needs to run on same desktop instance in KDE for realtime monitoring of priority incoming mail. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do you really need 6 separate instances of a mail client? How about using one instance of the mail client and configuring it to check the 6 accounts and store the mail in different mailboxes? If thats an option, then take a look at the kmail mail client.

Due to the necessity of different sets of multiple filters for each account, I see no other way at the present time than using several instances of clients.

Well this is going to be a tough one because most clients won't run more than one instance. You may have to end up using multiple clients to resolve this problem. Maybe you should check if the filters can be done uniquely per account.

Mutt will allow more than one instance to run, but I think you will need something like procmail to do the filtering. Then you can specify 'mutt -f ~/mail/mbox1' 'mutt -f ~/mail/mbox2' etc

If you use a tabbed terminal such as mrxvt you can have mutt running on separate tabs.
