how to record more than once to a dvd-rw disc?

Hi,

I downloaded something from Youtube using 'flashvideodownloader'. The video downloaded itself to 'downloads' in Firefox 'tools'. I opened the 'containing folder' and recorded the video to a dvd-rw disc. So far so good.

However, when I tried to burn another download to the same disc, k3b said I must format the disc. Isn't it possible to get k3b to record a sequence of separate burns, with titles?

I hope someone can help with this, please.

Hi,

Do you mean that I should start a new dvd disc by 'registering' it first as a multisession' format?

I inserted my once-used dvd, tried to select 'multisession' but it was greyed out.

If not mistaken, when you use a fresh blank dvd/rw disc, select multisession before writing anything to it, then you should be able to write info later using the same disc.

FGS,

But how do I select multisession? When I insert my new dvd, with nothing else open, I get a full screen k3b without the option. If I open Youtube first, and then insert the disc, I get the same thing.

I have, when fiddling about, managed to find the multisessions option but it was greyed out. Damned if I can find it again anyway.

xandercage17,

Right, I put in a new dvd-rw disc, formatted it, selected 'sequential mode' and recorded one file. When I tried to burn another I got 'found a sequential medium, this should be formatted or ejected', or words to that effect.

I then played about with various selections. 'New data project' produced 'writer does not support incremental streaming with DVD-rw media'. I'm trying to burn from a previous download - I thought streaming was live from a radio or something.

Selecting 'continue multi-session' produced a panel headed 'please select a session to import'. A selection within the panel was greyed out. I couldn't get anything to work no matter what I tried.

I'm getting fed up with this. Should I download a different archiving application?

in k3b if you are writing a data disc it should be in the 'burn' window under the 'misc' tab, the second drop down is multisession mode, select 'start multisession' on the first, 'continue multisession' on append, and 'finish multisession' to close out the disc when you are done writing data to the disc but this can only be done on new discs or discs that have been started as multisession as otherwise the session is automatically closed making the disk no longer appendable

Thanks, xandercage17. I'll have a go at your instructions and see what happens.

Thanks frieza. That looks like a very good tutorial. I'll read up on that to try to get the info I need firmly in my head.

I've no doubt now that I'll be okay so I'll mark this thread solved. You've been a great help.
