How To Force to Set Fixed Resolution

Hi,
Im trying to get 1920x1080 px. resolution on my kubuntu 11.10 i915 chipset system. Up to now things were normal by using the xrandr method in XSetup file. But when i tried to use a VGA splitter everything messed up! I cant find a way to say the kubuntu "do not try auto set anything!!!" i want to enter the output resolution will be 1920x1080 manually no matter what is the edid e.t.c !!! Im very pissed of cause i can easily use this splitter with 1920x1080 resol. with my win 7 system easily.
Up to now i tried to configure and change the settings of Xorg.conf file passing i915.modeset to kernel with grub and using xrandr (add mode and set output to this mode) methods.
I think i need to change settings at driver level.
Please somebody lead me to "strictly" "forcely" "..." set the resolution!
BTW: How can i set the KMS "video=xxx" setting? in which file?
Thanks in advance.

I'm going to give u Idea so you can see why you cant force a resolution because it may be out of signal range..

Since xrandr starts at loading Desktop. You can run xrandr -q and get exceptable levels for Resolution anything out side those levels gives you an out of range for monitor.

Now you can make a .xprofile in home folder and tell it what resolution to use. Not sure if your going to get out of range or xrandr reset the picture.. good luck.
