How to add a folder to the places menu on Gnome
Hi there,
As titled, I want to add my frequently used folder to the 'places' menu for faster access, it seems there is no easy way to do it, the edit menus option only takes care the application list, am I correct ? |
In GNOME 2 you can open Nautilus, e.g by clicking Places -> Home Folder. In the main window select the folder you want to add and drag it into the Places menu on the left. I don't know if it works on GNOME 3 as well.
I can only put it in the taskbar not the places menu, and I couldn't remove the one I miss placed on taskbar.
Open Nautilus to the folder you want to add. Click on Bookmarks -> Add Bookmark, or press Ctrl-D.
Yes that worked thanks, but how do I remove those I miss placed on the taskbar ?
If by 'taskbar' you mean the panel, right-click on whatever you want to remove and select "remove from panel".
Yes panel I mean, but there is no remove option, only launch and properties, I think this is the latest version of Gnome, and I also want to add applet to the panel, but there is no such thing in this version.
If you're using Gnome 3, I can't help you. I don't use it.

One way to find out what version of GNOME you have would be to select 'About' from the Nautilus Help menu. |
gnome3 remove item from panel (alt-right_mouse)
I have the same issue ... I just found out that you can hold the ALT key and Right-Click the item in the Panel which will give you a menu that will allow you to 'move' the item or 'remove from panel'.
I too would like to know how to add to the 'Places' menu. I want a shortcut to my 'Torrents' directory and 'SRC' directory to show. Anybody know how to do this in GNOME3? |
