How should I install Yahoo! Messenger?

On the Yahoo! Messenger for Unix download site it lists one Debian package, and three RPMs.
The RPMs are for Redhat 6, 7, 8, and 9. I use PCLinuxOS, which is I'm pretty sure is Mandriva based. Which RPM package should I use to install yahoo messenger? Should I use alien to convert the .deb package? I don't know which one to choose, and Yahoo! messenger isn't in PCLinuxOS's default software repository. What should I do?

thank's for the suggestion, but

If I didn't already know what I wanted I wouldn't be asking this question, If I don't like Yahoo! I will consider Gaim.

That's really not a helpful post.

The user has chosen which product to use (and is perfectly entitled to choose to use any program, even if it isn't your favorite!), and is asking for help with that program, not someone to dismiss their choices.

To return the the subject at hand:

If your OS is Mandriva based (I've never used that distro, so I don't know if it is), then it should recognise the Red Hat RPM packages. Your best bet is probably to use the package for the most recent Red Hat version (which AFAIK if RH9). If that doesn't work then you could try another package.

huh! I gave my insights on it.
and I thought giving advise wasnt a bad thing. moreover I wrote "try not using".
the person never mentioned he didnt want to use anything other than this, and I thought he had no idea that there were some other softwares for it.
