How do I cp [cret]mountdf.pdf to another directory?

Hi:
The file name begins with '[', a square bracket and I can't copy it anywhere because of the bracket. Any workaround? I can't even list it with ls.

GNU bash, 3.1.17

EDIT: cp *cret* <dest_dir> does. Sorry.

I have no problem creating, listing, or copying a file named [file]abc---I don't think the "[" is the issue.

Is it possible that the filename has some kind of unprintable character in it?

Pixellany: read the edit note in my post #1 if you please. Thanks anyways.

I did read that note, and I understand that you found a solution. The point of my post is that---without understanding what the problem was---we cannot know if it will happen again. My test suggests that you have a different problem with the filename

The problem is stated in the title. But the problem's been solved, pixellany.
