Hiding hidden files in the "save as" option window

Using Fedora 9 with Gnome. The "Save As" menu displays as possible locations for saving all folders and files in the directory including dot files (.file) which are hidden files. Is it there a way to keep the dot files hidden?

Out of curiosity, are you enabling hidden files in nautilus? If so, that may be the culprit.

Right click anywhere in the save as screen and uncheck 'show hidden files'. Hidden files should not show up again unless you reselect to 'show hidden files'. The last state becomes the default state--so if you need to show hidden files for on instance just make sure to deselect once you no longer need to the hidden files.

PresGas and wit_273 Thanks for your replies.

PresGas I do not have "Show Hidden Files" selected in Nautilus.

wit_273 In Fedora 9 right clicking anywhere in the save as screen has no effect.

However I have solved the issue by executing < ctrl+h > (control h) this key combination toggles the hidden files view in the selection window.

Anyway thank you both for you help.
