Angry help-Newbie...desktop became huge....and worse

My desktop, after firing it up from last, the desktop was huge and the windows too. And to add to that, whenever I move my mouse or mouse pad, the desktop and page I am trying to work on, move along with the desktop and the open windows are all moving all over the place too.!!!!!
It''s worse than strobe lights! Several windows and the desktop are all moving in different directions and, the page |I am trying to work on is moving away from the mouise. I have to try to trick the moiuse to get anything clicked or written at all.
I have NO PC skills at all.I need help and help that someone might try to explain in terms they might to a grade 2 student who's only just touched a |PC for the first time.

I have a hard time using windows sometinmes and it;s all I ever have used. My brother always does the programmiong and repairs but I live in anothercity now. H E L P please, someone!

Which operating system are you using? Ubuntu, Mint, Saline, et cetera?
Which desktop environment are you using? Gnome, KDE, XFCE, LXDE?
Some information about your hardware may be helpful, as well as exactly how you installed your system and any error messages you may be getting.
