Hi:

If you not planning on having Windows and Linux on the same drive .....
You can use 'g-parted live' to create the partitions for your Linux Mint distro.
http://gparted.org/download.php

<OR> you can use the partition manager that comes with Linux Mint during your installation to make the partitions. Just make sure that you have the right drive selected before you write to disk.

Until you post specifically what you tried and how you did it and what the results were, we'll just be guessing. You need a Linux filesystem on the drive if you want to install a Linux system. The Mint disk should have the GParted Partition Manager on it so you could use that. If you want to use it, their Manual is online at the link below.

Tell us what you did, tell us what didn't work. Take a photo of what happened/messages and post that - at least then we will have something to work with.

The only way we can help is if we know what you tried or can see what is the current status of the drive and partitions.
-::-Use your Linux Mint CD boot it up and launch the gparted program. Take a picture of the partitions on both drives and post it for us.-::-

I just installed Linux Mint 17.3 on a friends laptop and it was reasonably easy.
When it came to the partitioning part that's were it get's a little challenging if you haven't partitioned before.

You could us the gigabytes to megabytes converter to help you make the size of the partition correct.
http://www.convertunits.com/from/GB/to/MB

I respect that you would rather pay someone:-
I could install it for you.-
