Question Guitar Tuner for Gnome / Debian

I have a great little application, in MS Windows, for tuning my acoustic guitar using a microphone.

Where can I find a an application for Gnome/Debian for tuning an acoustic guitar using a microphone? So far all I can find are for tuning electric guitars, which plug into the sound card.

Thanks

A quick search gave the following on my etch machine

Code:
apt-cache search guitar tune gtk
gtkguitune - Guitar and other instruments tuner
Perhaps it fits your needs?

Cheers,

Evo2.

PS. Probably not a good idea to have that link in your signature.

Thanks Evo2.

However, this is just like many of the other packages I have installed. The description of being a "Guitar and other instruments tuner" is not valid. That program is just a little audio player and does not help tune anything.

Most of these 'tuner' applications provide a tone output, expecting you to be able to match your instrument with the tone over the speakers. Or, they just create music like MIDI recorders. So, I can't see how they can describe themselves as "Instrument Tuners". Others, only work with electric guitars plugged in.

I would love to find a Linux version of the Windows AP Guitar Tuner, by Audio Phonics. It is a GREAT little application. If I can figure it out, I might try porting it over using Wine.

I see. It may be worth listing the ones that you have already investigated, so that others (like me) don't post suggesting programs you've already tried.

It may also be a good idea to file bugs against these packages that have a misleading/incorrect description.

Cheers,

Evo2.

You're right. I should know better. I will post again when I have that list.
