Gnome3.4.2 has no right click options

Recently installed Debian Wheezy with the default Gnome 3.4.2.
When attempting to use the right click on mouse to configure any screen or function like back ground, enabling screen saver, changing background, create folder etc nothing happens. The right button seems not to function with the exception on the pannel only if I hole the Alt key. On the backgroung i can get no response at all even with the Alt key. Tried a difrent mouse. Tried typing screen-saver in terminal but it says it is running. I just can't seem to access it. I do understand thet there has been some changes the way you do some things like move the pannells and alter them by holding the aly key down at the same time where in Gnome 2.30.2 you do not need to do so. Also there is no "System" menu in the pannel. I looked through the help stuff in the Gnome website but I see nothing about this situation. Do I have a botched install or am i doing something wrong. Thanks

That was simple and self explanitory and for other things here as well.
I still can not find how to control gnone-screensaver. No sub menu exists in the panel. It historicly has been in System \ Preferences in earler versions. Looked around in the various menus and sub menus in dconf-editor but I found nothing. Thanks Jon
