Gnome + screen resolution + no monitor

I'm using Gnome, Debian. PIII 866 MHz, 512 MB RAM, Intel 815...
Everything work's fine except one thing, when monitor is not attached to VGA, screen resolution is 640x480 (I know that because I'm using TightVNC) whenever I try to connect through VNC. I need at least 800x600 but it won't let me change

How can I solve this?

Is it possible that nobody want to discuss this subject?

I'm using this because I do not need another monitor or hardware so it is cheaper and need less space on table.
It is advantage isn't it?

Since I didn't get any reply I solved it by myself.

I did dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg as root, turned off autodetect monitor and thats it. Now I have even 1024x768 what is maximum for my Siemens Fujitsu 15" TFT ;)

I hope this will help someone one day or this is pointless...

I am having exact the same problem, I also did the dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg but it didnt ask anything about monitor. It was only asking me stuff about what keyboard im using.... :P

Might there be other solutions?
