GNOME Keyboard Shortcuts using mulitple keys

Forgive me if I missed something and this is very simple, but I have been trying to change my gnome keyboard shortcuts and I can't figure out how to make a shortcut using more than one key. I use the System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts menu and it will simply take the first key I press as the shortcut. Is there something I have to hold down? I tried using gconf-editor but I couldn't find the location of the lock screen shortcut.

A quick google search turned up this:
Quote:
Anyway, I'm in Gnome 2.8 again, but in gconf, under apps -> metacity -> keybinding_commands you can define your own commands.
Now under apps-> metacity -> global_keybindings you define the keyboard shortcut for the command you want.
For example, set the 'command_1' key (keybinding_commands) to 'xscreensaver-command -lock', and the 'run_command_1' key (global_keybindings) to '<Shift><Control>l'.
It should work now.
