gnome desktop does not start
Hi fellows. Iam a newbie in linux but so far I like it very much.
Now here is my problem:
I have a p4 machine with windows xp. I have installed VMware workstation 5 and running redhat9 as a virtual machine. Have been using gnome desktop hapily for 2 weeks now. But today when i started linux the desktop would not startup it gave the following message:

VESA(0): Failed to set up write combining range (0xf0000000, 0x10000000) Could not init font path element unix/:7100, removing from list!

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

XIO: fatal error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

Any help will be appreciated.

try using the command
redhat-config-display --reconfig
and then restart and check.

If that will not work yet you can upgrade the boot loader, don't be afraid you will not loose your files.
