Gnome 3 - CapsLock sound

I am running Gnome 3.24.2 under Arch. I have just done a new install onto a new SSD. On my last setup I had the CapsLock configured to make a sound. I have spent hours trying to work out where this setting is. I can't find it under "Keyboard" or "Universal Access", I have also looked for an extension to no avail. Can someone please help me it is very frustrating.

Thanks,

Robert...

It's under Accessability
https://people.gnome.org/~shaunm/acc...ml#dtconfig-18

That takes me back to the 80's — writing a capslock beeper in assembly language for a computer with no keyboard lights!

Thanks for replying however the reference you gave me was for GNOME 2*, I had already visited it. I have just gone through it again. On Gnome 3 the closest menu option is "Universal Access" and I can't find it there.

I'm sorry I didn't check the date of that page. After extensive hunting through Gnome documentation and other stuff, I can only conclude that the caps-lock beep is gone! There is a thing called the Keyboard Accessibility Monitor which you can install, that will show the caps-lock status on the panel, which is a start if you don't have a keyboard with lights.

The feature does seem to exist in Cinnamon (at least it did last year) but I can't trace anything for Mate.

Hi, the option to turn the capslock beep on has certainly gone but the code to make the beep is still there. This is what I did. I temporally pointed my /etc/fstab to my old home directory on another drive. When I ran that and pressed the capslock it beeped but I still could not find the toddle option. Running on Arch it is up to date. I am going to accept things as they are as I now have moved this installation onto my SSD 120G and I am hoping it’s enough since have have uploaded photos to the cloud. Thanks again for your help.
