gftp and ssh

Hi

I have recently noticed a problem, but only when moving from redhat to ubuntu. It relates to gftp. Now I have a server that I cannot to via the command prompt that requires a encyrpted key - which I have set-up with ssh (rsa). I have a password associated with ssh. This is pretty standard. However when I now try and connect to another server which does not require a key - only username and password.

key_read: uudecode AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAABIwAAAQEA7Ip
failed

Enter passphrase for key '/home/XX/.ssh/id_rsa':
Enter passphrase for key '/home/XX/.ssh/id_rsa':
Error: An incorrect password was entered
Disconnecting from site

gftp version: 2.0.18

I have tried looking in the gftp options, but cannot see anything to change relating to any options to eneter any passwords, i.e. on the SSh tabs.

Any advice?

Removing an old ssh key

I have had similar problems with ssh when I have reinstalled Linux.
I do not know for sure what your problem is but I can speculate.

A new install generates a new ssh key. The machine your are ftp-ing to may
no longer recognize your machine. (It thinks you are cheating -- it's trying
to protect itself and you). For ssh there is a key file in /etc/ssh.
On the remote host, your public key file is cached. You need to replace the old
key on the remote machine with a new one, or delete yourself entirely and use
the procedure you used originally to establish an account.
