gaim - turn off msn custom emoticons

hi all!

I guess the title says it all... How can I turn off the MSN custom emoticons in gaim? those annoying .gif files that flash and strain your eyes... I just want to get rid of them I am using gaim 2.0.0beta3 on Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake.

Thanks in advance.

lib.
