Fluxbox Clock Problem on Ubuntu MATE

I've run into another strange Fluxbox quirk on Ubuntu MATE v. 18.04.2 LTS..

The clock in task bar does not keep time (the date, though, seems to be--er--up-to-date).

When I do the "date" command in a terminal, the correct time is displayed. In addition, Swisswatch, which I am using as a on-screen analog clock, keeps ticking away showing the correct time. The GKrellM clock is also current.

I tried restarting Fluxbox and the taskbar clock updated, but it hasn't budged since.

I dug around in ~/.fluxbox but couldn't find anything helpful.

Any suggestions as to where else I should look?

This is a minor issue. If worse comes to worse, I shall simply remove the clock from the taskbar.

What version, on 1.3.7 no issues here, but --

I wonder if the issue is with /etc/localtime, does that agree with what you real want from /usr/share/zoneinfo/

Or maybe if starting from somekind of DM (line xdm) I wonder if you need to set TZ,example for me:

setenv TZ America/New_York

Found the problem. I had a typo in the date code.

I was telling my girlfriend just this morning that I thought it was time to see the eye doctor and get new glasses . . . .

Interesting, would have expected the characters to echo out. Must be a 1.3.5 thing, on 1.3.7 I just get the characters printed. Maybe you had some control characters in it or maybe UTF-8 non-ascii characters ?

The characters were visible, but on my 23" monitor the "configure clock" dialog was very small and I just misread the contents.

Not my best moment, but I figured out owed the rest of the story.
