Flip cursor?

I notice that just about all mouse cursor themes for GNOME include a version of the pointer that is left-handed. Is there a setting somewhere to activate this left-handed cursor for normal use? Choosing "left-handed mouse" in the Mouse Preferences configuration utility conveniently swaps the buttons, but the cursor's appearance doesn't change.
