Firefox wont open under one user

I'm trying to get firefox working on a fresh install of Ubuntu. On my regular user account it wont open, it keeps saying that it's opened but not responding but refuses to do anything further. This is after a full uninstall and reinstall. Under root it works fine.

Should I just be logging in under root for every day desktop use? I found a few issues about logging in as a user, such as not having permission to change certain settings not to mention having to type my password a gazilion times. Worse then Vista tbh.

Hi,

Start firefox in a terminal, it will give you more info.

do a
ps ax | grep firefox
to see if it is running
then kill it

Also take a look for a lock file in your home directory
.mozilla/firefox/

That's the thing it does not actually show up in ps. I'll try the lock file though, guess I should add something in my login script to auto delete, if that's in fact the case.

I would try a simple rm -rf /home/username/.mozilla you may lose your bookmarks etc...
