Firefox not display using chosen fonts
 

Hi,

When I changed the font face to a certain font, firefox seems to display web content using a default font instead of the font that I had chosen. But then for other fonts, it actually displays using the corrent fonts.

In my case, I am having these problems with chinese font, but I think this problem could happen with other types of font as well. Seems to me that for some reason firefox can't load the chosen font for display thus have to fall back to the default font.

I am using Kubuntu Edgy, firefox 2.0 and a truetype font (TTF) that I manually installed by copying it to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/other/.

Other GTK-based applications such as gvim and gimp can display using the font, so I think it has been properly installed.

There are two things you can try.
From the main menu in Kde, go to System - Gnome, and start the Gnome control center. Click on the Fonts icon, an set the font sizes there (only 4 items to set).
You can also create a file called userChrome.css in ~/.mozilla/firefox/<profile>/chrome. That file can also control the appeareance of fonts in the viewing window of Firefox. You may have a userChrome-example.css that you can copy and edit to your liking.

Thanks for the suggestions, but the problem that I am having is with the font face (not the size), where firefox seems to use other font instead of the font that I have selected in the preference window.

I suspected that this might be because I am using a true type font (TTF). Can anyone confirm whether firefox can use TTFs?
