it halts the conky process to keep it from accessing files while the shell script fetches and processes data from the website.

updated the script a couple of times since 2 day ago - and will continue to do so. this has been on my desktop for close to two years and since i'm cycling to work it's really important.

hmmm, it seems i can't edit my first post.
anyhow, i have been developing this, it's international/global now.
dropped some dependencies (pkill and html-xml-utils) and use xmllint for parsing.
and - tadaaa - finally moved it to github:

Why can't I edit my posts on this forum? weird.

Anyhow, changes to the website forced my hand, fortunately quickly fixed, everything works normally again except the current observation, which has changed to javascript, so i need to develop a different mechanism (other than parsing html with xmllint) to get at that data. but it was only a small bit of text at the bottom, not enabled by default.
also incorporated a few minor tweaks that accumulated over the past months. see the changelog.

so if you're one of the two lucky users, go pull:

Have you tried writing to them to find out where they've now hidden the API?

I hung up my conky guns years ago but I do like to see and am encouraged by other people's work with it.

This has seen a major overhaul.
Best thing: there's 3 new icon sets.
The old ones were really getting a little crummy.
Please see the previous post, which should really be an edit of the first post.
