File Folder Behavior Settings

Either I'm the only one not in love with the new gnome desktop or I'm the only having issues with it? I've installed dconf-editor and the tweak tool and cannot get the default folder behaviors like that of older gnome desktops. Using Fedora 18, I want single click and default sort to be by type. I've changed this in dconf-editor but I still get the sort by name and using the dropdown menu should not be my 'option' to work around the problem. I'm hoping someone has solved this problem and I'll be very appreciative
