Few questions about gnome shell

Sorry for unprecised thread title.
I recently installed Debian Wheezy. I pretty much like gnome shell, but why there is not shutdown button (I got settings, suspend, lock screen and log out, but no shutdown or reboot).

Is there a way to have places inside shell? I've seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hViWJ35GXr8
But I have no idea how he added places.

Most themes I installed have nice look for default apps like terminal, nautilus, gedit, but ugly borders for third party apps. Is there a tool to edit gtk3 themes, just like in gnome2 I could customize whatever theme I want. Otherwise I could just edit it in text editor.

Your first two questions can be answered with gnome-tweak-tool and shell extensions. Both are available in the Wheezy repositories.

Code:

apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions
apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool

Google for more info if needed.
AFA editing GTK3 themes I don't know of any utility to do this but there is a plethora of themes available on gnome-look.

I have already installed them. I couldn't find the extension for shutdown but I found it. Also if I hold down the alt key, suspend option becomes power off, strange.
I didn't see places inside the shell just like in this videoclip. I only installed places menu for top panel. I searched google, but I can't find anything.
I know also of gnome look. But most themes I download, they have ugly borders and overall style for third party apps. I think I'm gonna edit default theme with colors I want.

Btw. I don't know why, but sound in pidgin is delayed (when I send a massage). It wasn't like that since install. I don't know, maybe after I did software update something screwed up.

Thank you for this! I learned something new today. I don't have the extensions installed, but I do get the power off if I hold down the alt key.

All available extensions are accessible in the gnome-tweak-tool. There's a places and power extension in there; I didn't watch the video so I can't say how his was.
If you can readily edit gtk themes, more power to you! Please share your work!
I don't understand what you mean by "third party apps". Please explain.

I tried to edit adwaita, but in .css file is only link reffering to css file, but I don't know how to access it
@import url("resource:///org/gnome/adwaita/gtk-main-dark.css");

On the other themes there are normal css files, with description which color is which. So everybody can manually edit gtk3 theme colors using simple text editor. But that's not so easy as it sounds. I'm curious how to access the css from adwaita. It would be easiest one to edit, I'd just need to edit few colors.

For example crunchy theme from gnome look. Everything looks good in apps like nautilus, gedit, terminal. But in pidgin or chrome there are ugly, gray borders which remind me of win 98. In the directory there are css files specially for these apps and there rest just looks ugly.

And about places, the one in video is inside the shell. Just like I have windows and applications, he had windows, applications and places. Kinda like in unity.

To shutdown in gnome3 there is a menu at right of screen scroll down to the last entry press alt & the option to shutdown is there

Does this help for the Chrome theme?
