Fedora-16>>Fedora-18 upgrade: CAN I just format & install F-18?
I have Fedora-16 on my desktop
I POSSESS the Fedora-18 OS install disk from OSdisc.com (plus all the plugin disks) Recommended procedure asks that I upgrade F-16 to F-17 before doing a F-18 upgrade/install. This procedure seems klutzy. I can do it but............Here's My Question::::: WOULD it be equally intelligent......to do a Drive FORMAT under F-16.......and then BOOT to my DVD-drive with the F-18 install disk present? Have I posted in the wrong forum? I don't plan to have two OS's on this machine. If Fedora-18 upgrades are sensitive to the existence of prior versions, wouldn't it be cleanest-of-all to fdisk and start fresh? Judd |
Hi, if you have nothing to keep in your /home/ folder, then yes, it would be easier and far less klutzy,
to repartition the drive (allowing for /home on a separate partition) and format it with F16. All the best, see you 'round the posts. Glenn |

Thank you for your reply. I'm aware that LINUXQUESTIONS prefers, than when a question is considered fully answered, that the individul who submitted the question indicate that with a "problem solved" label. I have looked.....cannot find such a "tag" adjacent as a button or link. Please help me with that. |

I think selecting that should do it. Cheers, Terry |
