fbsetbg -f...can't find app

I keep trying to set a background in fluxbox. I looked at the previous threads on this but they didn't solve my problem.

I installed fluxbox like this:

Quote:

apt-get install fluxbox
Do I need a version designation at the end? i.e. 1.4 or whatever?

Then, I try:
Quote:

fbsetbg -f /home/kevan/Desktop/bgs/2.jpg
Then, I get a message about:

Quote:

fbsetbg: I can't find an app to set the wallpaper with. You can install one in many many ways but...
Then it goes on about Eterm and a recommendation to install the package provided by my distro.

What is wrong here? I used to use CentOS and never had this problem...

fbsetbg doesn't actually set the background, it just serves as a frontend to a number of applications that do. xsetroot would be one, I think the blackbox one is called bbsetroot. Mine is using xsetroot, and I've never had a bit of trouble, so I guess I could recommend it.

I personally think that distro packagers should make fluxbox at least recommend a wallpaper setter to avoid this confusion.

Anyhow, I think you'll find it under

apt-get install xsetroot

It couldn't find the package. I'll check in synaptic...

Actually, a quick google reveals that it's bundled in with a package entitles "xbase-clients"
