Errors while installing WiFi drivers
I'm trying to install an Edimax USB WiFi stick in a Dell Optiplex GX240 desktop PC.
The Edimax USB Wifi stick model is EW-7811Un. The OS is Ubuntu 10.10. I have downloaded the driver rtl8192CU_linux_v2.0.939.20100726 which I'm attempting to install. I've unpacked it and into a directory on the filesystem root and chmod 777 the lot. When I run 'make' as root, this is what happens: Code:
# make Thanks. |
Sorry, posted this in the wrong place. Perhaps a mod could move it for me? Thanks.

If you want it to be moved just report your post to the mods.

Thanks Tobi. I've done that now.

Thanks for the updated driver. Looks like install went a little better this time, although I still have a few errors.
After unpacking the files and chmod 777 -R the directory, I ran the install.sh script, which I believe is supposed to do everything. Please can someone examine the output posted below tell me whether it's ok or if I have more work to do on that? Thanks. Code:
# sh install.sh |
This will do : sudo modprobe 8192cu

What I did I think, was edit /etc/network/interfaces (some settings I had added earlier) and correct the interface name from ra0 to wlan0. I did this because I noticed that /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net was calling it wlan0. Thanks for your help. I've got another two (PCI type) to install over the next couple of days, so I'll probably be back! |
