error in installing grub!

Hi all!
i've installed fedora core 5 recently ,and it was working properly.then i installed a new windows XP on my hard and it seems to rewrite the grub ,so i can't access the fedora any more!
my first question is that is it possible to install grub with the CD of fedora 3 or redhat ?(as i unfortunately don't have fedora core 5 CDs right now! )
with considering that it is possible ,i tried to install the grub via linux rescue ---> grub-install ,but there are some problems:
1- after entering to rescue mode it cannot find linux partitions while there are two(one ext3 and one swap)observed in "fdisk -l"!
2- when switching to root by chroot /mnt/sysimage it says that directory sysimage doesn't exist!,
3- and when running "grub-install" ,"cannot execute /bin/sh" error was received!
can any one help me please to boot my fedora again?
thanx!

Maybe you have a SATA disk or another type that is not yet recognized by the older kernels of RH or FC3. Can't you use the FC5 disks, or any other more recent LiveCD?
The chroot method is OK, provided that your root partition has been mounted to /mnt/sysimage.

thanks uselpa!
are u sure that providing FC5 CD may fix the problem?
and ,another question is there any way to installing grub via windows?

If FC5 worked properly before, that means that the kernel included with FC5 can operate your hardware. So if you can use the FC5 CD to boot (probably called "recovery mode"), it'll work.

I don't think you can install GRUB from Windows.

thanks for your guidance, the problem is solved now just by using FC5 CD !
