tolwyn then login to the gui as a normal user
and start a new session AS ROOT
if you need a gui then start it as root ( su - )

Dont know what happened but in my new installation of fedora 16 security spin, after modifying the lxdm i am able to login as root from GUI.

vi /etc/pam.d/lxdm
find following line

auth required pam_succeed_if.so user != root quiet

comment out by placing # at beginning to disable this check

#auth required pam_succeed_if.so user != root quiet

save and close the file.

Reboot the machine once.

So marking this thread as completed.
