I have troubles sending email and suspect that Evolution is the culprit. I welcome the advice of others.
I put an address into the TO or CC field that looks like this:
"Lastname, Firstname" <something@some.domain>
Evolution (or is it the address book) searches based on the first characters entered and provides a pick-list. I choose one and fill the rest of the compose mail form. Next I select SEND.
At some point between my typing the address and my selecting SEND,
Evolution (or the address book) re-populates the TO or CC field with an expanded edition of the email address involved. However, this time
the address gets fractured in several ways:
- quotes move around in the string or vanish completely resulting in a split address -- one before and one after the comma -- neither of which is valid
- the comma moves around in the string resulting in invalid addresses
- spaces, quotes and commas get planted at random places in the resulting string -- resulting in a bad address.
- if the name parts or domain parts are funky in any way, the resulting address is even more scrambled -- consider "St.Andre, Daniel M., MS" as the name string [lastname with period, comma, firstname, middle initial and period, honorific]
Running evolution v2.28.3 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with all patches applied.
