e2fsck 1.42.6 running during boot-time.

Suppose during boot-time fsck begins running. When I get the control back, how do I know what the severity of the damage made to my ext2 filesystem is? This is the question. fsck and e2fsck do not speak about log files, if I am doing a good reading.I could modify /etc/rc.d/rc.S to make e2fsck more verbose (-v e2fsck option), but that would not quite solve the problem: I'd like to have a file where at least all output by e2fsck has been
recorded.

Kernel 3.2.29, e2fsck 1.42.6

A few issues.

If you stop a file check in progress I'd doubt you'll have much of a report as to file system problems. I also may be that the file check is simply running based on time or number of boots so no file system issue may be present.

I'm not sure I know of a live way to test a file system. Well, I've always been warned not to do it. I assume it could be forced.

The logging section is very interesting indeed. In slackware 12.0 there was no mention of logging. Thanks a lot.
