Dolphin : open place in a new window

using dolphin Version 16.08.2
KDE Frameworks 5.26.0
Qt 5.6.1 (built against 5.6.1)

When I right-click on a folder, there are options to open it in a new tab or in a new window.

When I do the same on a "place" in the Places panel (F9), there is no "open in a new window" option.

Is it a way to open a "place" in a new window ? (quicker than detaching a new tab)

I poked around a bit at this and could find no way to accomplish what you want to do and nothing in the Dolphin settings that seemed to address this functionality.

I use Konqueror as a file manager (it was the KDE default before Dolphin). In Konqueror, with the sidebar enabled, you can open items on the sidebar in new tabs. You can also and remove items to the sidebar. I don't think that you can add the history to it, but you can list directories and devices. In addition, you can have multiple tabs open, but I don't think you can tile the tabs.

Thank you for taking time to check on your side.

I used Konqueror for years. In my present situation (Version 4.14.25), it gives me more problems than Dolphin.

The main reason I switched is that I cannot hide places (disk partitions). There is a "Hide entry" option, but it is not effective.
