disabling kopete upon kde-startup

Hi,

Every time I start my Debian 4 system, I login to a kde environment and kopete starts up.

How can I disable this ?

In fact it would be great to disable this and to configure gaim(now pidgin) to startup instead.

Thanks for any tips.

Close Kopete. After that run Kcontrol -> KDE Components -> Session Manager -> On Login and choose "Start with an empty session". Logout of KDE and back in again. If you want GAIM to start automatically then you will have to reconfigure the sessions so that they are saved when you log out.
