Desktop Environment (GNOME) doesn't initiate after daily update (Debian Testing 64B)
Hi all!
A couple of days ago, I updated my system, like everyday with Code:
apt-get dist-upgrade Then, when I rebooted the computer, gdm doesn't initiate. I waited a couple of days, expecting a new update for xorg or gnome, but nothing. I would like not to wait more, but I don't what I should do. I checked dpkg.log and found some packages that maybe would be relevant: Code:
2010-07-30 18:54:56 status installed man-db 2.5.7-3 Code:
startx I have an ATI Radeon HD4890. Everything worked perfectly until update. I had desktop effects activated. What should I do? Thanks in advance. |
Certainly *something* happened when you ran 'startx'. What did you see? What errors did you get?

It doesn't show anything.
When I ran 'startx', it does something too fast for seeing it and then the screen turns black. I'm a bit lost :S |
If you are using fglrx you need to reinstall the driver any time xorg or the kernel gets updated.
