.dat files are not working


hi,
i have RHEL4 on my computer,
i want to play vcd's that is .dat files on that RHEl4.
i heard that by default .dat files are not playing so i install real one player10
but that files are still not working.
is thera any special setting for real one or in the OS.
i can play .mp3 songs with the same real 1.
please help

.dat files are played in the command line version of mplayer (on a terminal) using
mplayer vcd://1
as an example. Depending on how many tracks there are, change the number accordingly.
The first track (vcd://0) is usually an advertising video.
