Question Create shortcut for Bookmarks (Firefox) to Desktop

With Windows, I could have the "Favorites" on my Desktop. Now that I am using Ubuntu w/Firefox, how, and where, can I create a shortcut for Firefox Bookmarks and, where is Bookmarks located? I would like to be able to open Bookmarks and launch a URL without having to open Firefox first. Thanks.

Actually, Firefox 3 now uses an SQLite database system for its bookmarks, instead of the old html file. There's no single file that can now be accessed directly by users, although you can still tweak firefox to create an html file as well. There are also extensions that can be used to export, backup, and sync them to html (I personally like SyncPlaces).
