create a backup cd while running a livecd of ubuntu 10.04
is there a way to boot ubuntu 10.04, without installing, and make a backup cd so i can download programs, and save them to the cd to install on an offline box? ive tried looking for aptoncd but it is mia, and keryx doesnt seem to work right, or explain itself fully. or not enough to me and my lack of experience. my labtop is still running xp and id like to keep it that way until im more comfortable with the ubuntu. right now i can only use the desktop as a jukebox and id like to be able to get some games and to get Samba. but its very hard without internet and im having trouble with linux terminal. id like to end up with an installation cd with all the programs i need, along with their dependancies, and none of the extra fluff i dont.
thank you for your help running ubuntu offline is an incredable chore |

thank you i will go ahead and try that. hopefully i have better luck than with kyrex. will that work on a liveboot or will ubuntu have to be installed on the machine retrieving the packages?
