copying files in gnome

trying to copy the download of firefox 1.5 from home/david to the /opt/mozillafirefox/lib folder in the gui, says i don't have permissions - tried logging in as file manager super user mode but all it does is ask for a password and then goes away - tried command line as well, but get error that /opt/mozillafirefox/lib does not exist and i am looking at it right now!, any help?

Before anything else, check for typos. Post the output of "ls -l /opt/mozillafirefox/lib"
