converting MS Access templates to openoffice
 

I am hoping to find a way to convert templates and pre-designed business databases made in and for MS Access to OpenOffice.org.

If there is anyone who might help me with this, I would appreciate it.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I have the image that OpenOffice's and Access' systems differ so much from each other that you're basically out of luck if you try to get an Access-thing work with/in OO.org. I hope you can prove me wrong, but that's my imagination..also, I think Access (and maybe OO.org Base too?) is somekind of a toy, if one _truly_ needs a database (for something more than handling your favourite friends' phonenumber-book), the solution should lie someplace else.

Actually, it's not so much a toy as a lightweight, single user/instance base.

It can be very useful and productive with limited scope.

Altogether I am trying to find home/ SMB database solutions for Linux. The one caveat is, I am wanting to find or make templates or pre designed databases thatt don't require someone who isn't a tech or specialized to be able to implement and use it.

If you have any suggestions, I would love to know more.

Check out ReKall ... It's only a front-end for Postresql or MySQL, but if you can get it working, it'll look like Access to the end users, and unlike many Linux based Access wannabees, it's quite mature.

Also, I've heard that MySQL has some fairly good Access conversion tools.
