Control mouse from shell.

My mouse uses /dev/input/mouse0
cat /dev/input/mouse0
and then moving the mouse a little gives output like this:
î( ñ(
ó(ö(ø(ú(ü(ÿ(ÿ

Is there a way to move my mouse pointer from a shell? Need it to make the pointer move to the lower right corner, eg make it disappear.

You could send the X server fake messages telling it that the mouse is moving that way.

controlling mouse

I suppose you have to reconfigure your mouse

by giving commands
chkconfig gpm on
service gpm restart

try with above commands hope it will work

xdotool

A very useful tool for doing what you need and other X related tasks is xdotool

You can install it directly from the repos (sudo apt-get install xdotool for deb/ubuntu)

Go to the shell and type the following to move the mouse:
Code:
xdotool mousemove 300 400
where 300 and 400 are the x/y coordinates.

Check out the man pages (or man xdotool) for more details on moving/resizing windows, automatically typing etc.
