Unhappy Connection Refused in Standalone Desktop

Is there any one who can solve the problem as given below -
I have a standalone Linux Ubuntu 12.04 LST OS installed machine. A software running as local host in Web browser (Firefox) is showing a message "connection refused" with nothing to display in browser.

Pls, help.

Welcome to the forum

First, please read the information here. The more details we have the better we can help you resolve your issue.

What "software" is this exactly? Are you logged into a network and have access to the internet? If so, are you able to browse the web normally?
