Compiling GNOME from scratch

I searched this but couldn't find anything so if someone can just point me to an existing article then great. I would like to compile GNOME from scratch but have a hard time keeping all the dependencies in order and finally give up in frustration. Can anyone here point me in the direction of a good guide for compiling the GNOME from scratch? Any help would be very appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

Here are build instructions for GNOME-2.16 http://cblfs.cross-lfs.org/index.php/Gnome

Here is a file that you can use to keep track of your install progress.
