Cliking a link reopens startup apps

Hei everyone,
Since I installed Pop! os 20.10; any webpage link that I would click from a software (Zoom, skype, slack...) leads to the restart of all startup apps. It also opens the link in my browser, but the browser remains in the background. The computer seems to struggle memory wise when this happens.
Any idea what is happening?
I run pop os 20.10 (but had the same problem with 20.04) on a ACER aspire V nitro.
Thanks.

Could you be a little more specific about what you mean by "all startup apps"?

You might try starting your browser from a terminal. It might throw some output to the terminal that will shed some light on what's happening. Please be sure to wrap any terminal output that you post in "code" tags, which become available from the menu when you click the "Go Advanced" button beneath the compose/edit post window.

Thanks for the help.
Hum, of course I cannot reproduce the problem right now... grrr... Seems that now it works fine. Well, I am not going to complain, but I ll post again if it comes back.
Btw, I opened my browser (opera) using the terminal. After 20/30 secs there are 6 identical output lines appearing in the terminal:
Code:
Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file: No such file: (null)
Not sure to which extend this may cause some problems. But I don't get any output when I click on the link from Slack/skype/teams. I ll keep opening opera from the terminal now, so that if the bug happens again I can see if there is any output.

To answer your question: I have Slack and Microsoft teams starting automatically when switching on the computer. These are the 2 apps I talked about.

The fontconfig error is likely harmless - if you don't have any font issues with Opera. Which version btw?

I use the last version of opera: 72.0.3815.148
The problem only started when moving to pop os 20.10. So I guess opera is not the issue, but I will try to change my default browser to firefox to see if it happens too.
The bug is happening again, but not always, and I still haven't figured out the pattern there. In any case nothing appears in the terminal during the bug.

For testing purposes, you might remove one for them from the startup routine (meaning that you'll have to start it from the menu) and see it the behavior is restricted to startup applications. That might help narrow the list of suspects if this reoccurs.

I've not encountered this, but I seldom use startup applications.

^ Yes, it looks like OP has problems with Teams on their other thread as well.

Ok, I have removed teams as startup app since yesterday. I ll go on like that few days to see how it goes. I will post back when I have more info.
Nevertheless, even if teams is the reason for my issue, that was not the case with Pop 20.04. So somehow something changed with the update.

Ok. I am finally back. It was a pretty big mess to find a charger that fits my computer. So I have been playing around and here are the results of my investigation:
* If I choose Firefox as my default browser it works fine. Well, at least I did not get the problem so far. So it seems to be opera linked in the end.
* I think that the problem happens only when opera is minimized. If the opera window is in the background the problem does not arise (not 100% sure). Also, even in these conditions, the problem the problem is not always there. Somehow I have the feeling that the longer opera is open the more it will happen.
* So the apps that are restarted are actually not my startup apps. I was in a zoom meeting earlier (not a startup app), and when clicking on a link in the chat zoom restarted (terminating the meeting), along with slack.
* I also realized that the problem can happen when clicking on a link from my obsidian markdown note app.

Any idea? I think for now I ll put firefox as my default browser, but I would still like to find a solution.
