Cinnamon fails to register keyboard shortcut

Hello,

I am using Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon. In the "System settings => Keyboard => Keyboard shortcuts" I have set a launcher keyboard shortcut titled "Home folder" to super-e (the windows key + key E). Basically it is supposed to open file browser (Thunar) pretty much the way windows launches explorer.

The problem is that Cinnamon will always ignore the first E key press, but it will work on the second one or every consecutive one. Here's how it works: If I hold down super and hit E, instead of opening a file browser, the letter E will be typed into whatever window has focus (works in xchat, thunar, console emulator, but not Firefox). Now if I hit E the second time without letting go of the Super key, the file browser will launch. If I release the super key after hitting E key for the first time and repeat the sequence, I will get an array of e characters in the currently selected window.

Is there a way to correct this so that file browser will open normally? Its getting annoying to have to tap the e key twice.

Thanks!

This is a current bug that several people have mentioned in the Mint forums and got no answer. Hopefully Clem will get it sorted...

You could try using the keyboard preferences tool to alter the Alt/Win behaviour. I found that I had to define the Windows key as Meta rather than Super to get shortcuts in some versions of Mate. You could even try making it Hyper!
