change the original file when i change the symlink to that file

Hi,
I have a file called X.pdf which has symlinks in more than one location. If i change the content of symlink of X.pdf, What happens to original X.pdf?
My requirement is that, whenever i change the symlink of X.pdf, all the other links and the original X.pdf should get updated.
PLease assist.

Thanks in advance.

a symlink is effectively like a "shortcut" in windows. there are no other files created, a symlink has no content of its own. you are accessing that original file just as if you had load it directly.
