Hello,
I know this has been answered in several threads, but there doesn't appear to be just one fixall solution for this. The version of Gnome and even the distribution seem to play a role somehow. I'm specifically looking for instructions on how to change the gnome menu icon in Fedora 8/Gnome 2.20.3. Even more specifically, I am NOT using the Fedora icon them. If I am using the Fedora icon theme, this will work:
Code:
cp /path/to/new/icon.png /usr/share/icons/Fedora/24x24/places/start-here.png
That, however, does NOT work with other icon themes, so I need something else. I have also tried the gconf method found here :
http://binarypirate.blogspot.com/200...menu-icon.html
This seems to be the popular method with Debian systems, but doesn't work in FC8. Even after a reboot, the custom icon never appears.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. It would be nice if at least one of these methods would just work across all distros and icon themes. Something like "override" feature.
Thanks!
Swill
