Bad Mouse Issues

I'm just trying to use linux for the first time and I've downloaded 3 different versions: Zorin 5.2, Ubuntu 11.04, and Fedora 16. I'm currently using Fedora.

For all of these oerating systems I've been having the same strange mouse problem: shortly after starting my computer the left and sometimes right clicks don't work in any applications. Even more odd is how when hovering my mouse over buttons there is almost never a change in the mouse to the hand pointing, as if the buttons didn't exist.

I'm not sure how I would fix this or even find the cause, so any help would be much appreciated!
