ABI libinput problem with frozen mouse and keyboard after switching SSD between workstations

i moved my system SSD hard disk with a fully working Slackware 14.2 OS from machine A to machine B. i also moved the graphics card, a Ati AMD FirePro W2100 from A to B - but that's when the trouble started :

1) to make the network card recognized at boot time i needed to specify the new MAC network address under - that solved this #1 problem.

Code:
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
2) now #2 problem : X doesn't want to recognize mouse nor keyboard which stay frozen although the screen looks alright using fvwm or xfce4. i have to kill the X process to get back to a command prompt - where btw my gpm-driven mouse works just fine, and keyboard too obviously. here a Xorg.0.log snippet with an ABI error message which actually occur multiple times in each log :

Code:
[ 27.283] (II) LoadModule: "libinput"
[ 27.283] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/libinput_drv.so
[ 27.284] (II) Module libinput: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[ 27.284] compiled for 1.19.3, module version = 0.25.0
[ 27.284] Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
[ 27.284] ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 24.1
[ 27.284] (EE) module ABI major version (24) doesn't match the server's version (22)
[ 27.284] (II) UnloadModule: "libinput"
[ 27.284] (II) Unloading libinput
[ 27.284] (EE) Failed to load module "libinput" (module requirement mismatch, 0)
[ 27.284] (EE) No input driver matching `libinput'
starting X without ABI does not solve this issue :

Code:
startx -- -ignoreABI &
...as error messages just look different and simply occur later in the log :

Code:
[ 3623.737] (II) RADEON(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines:

i thereafter reinstalled ALL(!) X, Xap and Xfce packages, first by using installpkg from an ISO image, then by booting into a Slackware USB install key and running SETUP and INSTALL just on the X/XAP/Xetc packages - both time without prevail, no luck !

i did not install (yet) any AMD FirePro W2100 drivers as i did not need to do so on machine A, the card just worked out of the box - will machine B's hardware require such ? i hate to install proprietary AMD (and even more Nvidia's!!!) graphics drivers because they are much too intrusive and usually require a new installation at a later time point...

what to do next ? i want to avoid the hassle of a fresh install...

ok, problem 'solved' : i gave up on saving my broken X system after hours of looking for a solution - i re-installed Slack OS 14.2 - took me 15min + 2h of tuning...
