[suse 11.1] How to restore kde from original cd/dvd
 

Greetings !!

I have messed up the desktop because I wanted to uninstall phonon that messed up my soundcard (I got always errors at boot time concerning the soundcard ewt88 that was unable to be configured or something like that burt was working very well regarding alsa).

Now I have a completly disfunctionnal desktop with menu items that won't work (latency and graphical bugs) and I wanted to know how restore the kde version from the installation dvd.

Do you know if the repair option from the installation dvd is helpfull or too risky to consider as a workaround.

If no, how can I restore the original kde version ?
Are the repositories really important to do so ?

You're better off switching to a console and installing gnome.
Switch desktop environments and upgrade kde.
